Lot Note(s): Signed in charcoal, lower right recto; collector and gallery ink stamps, verso. Partially painted on newspaper page laid to a cream colored wove paper backing sheet. Good to very good overall condition; the image itself is in very good condition; the left edge of the sheet is unevenly trimmed; the newspaper sheet is lifting from the backing sheet in the lower right and upper left, should be successfully conserved it desired; all in all presents very well. Comment(s): The best comparable to our example that we could find is “Natura Morte,” ink, brush, and gouache on newspaper laid down on canvas, 11 3/4” x 9 7/8,” sold for $17,500 including premium at Sotheby’s New York, May 28, 2015, lot #58. Carrà was an Italian painter and a leading figure of the Futurist movement that flourished in Italy during the beginning of the 20th century. In addition to his many paintings he wrote a number of books concerning art and taught for many years in the city of Milan.
