Lot Note(s): Signed and dated in gouache, lower right recto; collector ink stamp lower right, recto; collector and gallery ink stamps, verso. Executed on cream wove paper. Very good condition; the only issues are minor: a small 1/4" edge tear, upper left, well away from the image; a small 1/2" minor crease, lower left, not into the image; minor rippling; overall presents very well. A Letter of Authenticity (LOA) accompanies the work. Comment(s): This image is so different and unique from other collages of Laurens that it is difficult to find a fitting comparable work. A collage from the same period, slightly smaller than our example, is “La guitare,” collage, charcoal, and gouache on card, 7 ½” x 10 3/8,” 1918, sold for $165,250 including premium at Sotheby’s New York, November 10, 2000, lot #221.
