Lot Note(s): Signed in pencil, lower right recto and upper center, verso; collector and gallery ink stamps, verso. Executed on light cream wove paper. Overall good condition; foxing in the collage figure area; soiling and light staining in the left and lower edges of the sheet as well as near the signature; small 1/2" tear in the lower right margin, well away from the image. Comment(s): Collages by Baumeister are rare and more so from the 1920s. The closest comparable we could find is “Study of a Chess Player,” collage with pencil on paper, 12 1/16” x 9,” 1926, sold for $15,600 (£10,000) at Sotheby’s London, December 1, 1994, lot #135.
