Lot Note(s): Signed in pencil, upper left recto and upper center, verso; gallery and collectors ink stamps, verso. Executed on light cream wove paper. Condition: very good with no serious condition issues; a light stain above the signature, upper left recto; paper waviness center left and upper right due to adhesion of collage element; a few handling dimples; newspaper (?) fragment verso; presents very well. Comment(s): Collages by Baumeister are rare and more so from the 1920s. The closest comparable we could find is “Study of a Chess Player,” collage with pencil on paper, 12 1/16” x 9,” 1926, sold for $15,600 (£10,000) at Sotheby’s London, December 1, 1994, lot #135.
